wonderbinkJava Monkey had a slam instead of an open mike, so instead of hashing out a stream-of-consciousness ramble to read, I used the lag time between arrival and the show starting to work on a short story I've been writing.
I've got two characters in a room and I'm trying to get one of them to open the door to exit and he doesn't want to go! I've got the narrating character telling him to leave--repeatedly--and the silly boy isn't listening. He wants to make sure the narrating character is okay. Which is awfully sweet of him, but it doesn't advance the plot in the direction I want it to go.
Sheeshola. I figure I'll just keep writing until he gets there and fix it in the second draft. But, man, it's frustrating.
