La Dee Dah
Jan. 29th, 2004 09:21 pmMom and Dad have been in California for the past few days, which has allowed me to be a bum around the house. It also forced me to fix my own dinners, though I sustained myself nicely for most of those days with some leftover Southwest Chicken and a can of Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup. Last night I actually cooked something instead of merely reheating it--Baked Salmon With Lemon. (Obnoxiously easy to make--coat salmon with oil, add salt and pepper to taste, throw it in a baking pan, put a sprig of dill and some slices of lemon on the salmon and bake it at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes. Ta da!) I even cooked some green beans, sliced up a tomato and poured a glass of wine to go wtih it. Then I lit a fire in the fireplace and curled up by it for the rest of the evening. You'd think I was trying to seduce myself.
I've been checking out romance novels from the library and plowing through them. I'm not entirely sure why. There's something sort of comforting in their predictability. It might also mean that I'm avoiding something I don't want to grapple with right now.
Drama is absolutely exploding on the DD.com messageboard. I'm staying out of the whole thing, since I really don't know any of the parties well enough to comment. It's actually kind of fascinating in a popcorn-munching kind of way. Some of the threads are at least more entertaining reading than the usual "If Simon le Bon were a suitcase, what kind of suitcase would he be?" kind of threads that sprout up there.
Must go to bed now.

Date: 2004-02-03 01:20 am (UTC)Oh, it seems to have settled down a bit. Now that people have something to talk about (The Superbowl performance, such as it was) they don't need to snipe at each other to keep things interesting.
