wonderbink: The outline of a star surrounded by tiny (illegible) writing (tminick)
So back around the end of December I had a little scrape whilst attempting to make the rather treacherous left turn into my complex. My view was blocked by two cars that were stopped in front of me, and when I made a dash for it, a car came out of the proverbial nowhere and had a little grind session with my fender. My car was relatively fine--a little cosmetic damage, but nothing structural. However, you should have seen the number she did on the other guy. A long and gorgeous dent ran the length of both his driver side doors.

Cops came, I got the ticket, failure to yield, oops. Today I had my court date. It was set for 3:00 in the afternoon. But as anybody who has contended with traffic court knows, this particular appointment is shared with a room of about a hundred other people.

I went in intending to plead nolo contendere (no contest--basically pleading "whatever you say, Mac") and did so. The judge either declined to accept it or wasn't paying attention, because he marked it guilty when he handed down the judgment. No big deal.

Mind you, I had to sit around for about four and a half hours before I got to stand before His Honor, so by that point I was willing to accept anything, justgetmethefuckoutofhere.

$175 fine, paid by credit card and I was grateful, you hear me? Grateful because, dude, the fines in Sandy Springs--particularly for speeding--can go up to $1000 for a first offense. I saw someone get her fine reduced to a mere $585.

I wrote in my catbook and texted Mr. TBH just to have something to do. Four and a half hours of my life taken up waiting, plus another fifteen minutes to (a) actually see the judge and (b) settle up my fine.

I went out to dinner, at Doc Chey's Noodle House for some salmon in miso broth. Pretty good, but freaking huge. Restaurants are a bit of a waste for me, because they nearly always serve more food than I can comfortably fit inside my body in one sitting.

Think I will take my drugs and collapse into bed now. My sleep cycles have been really messed lately--for the past few days I've been blinking awake at 4:00 in the morning and not falling back asleep until just before the alarm goes off at 6:30. No idea why.

Today I took pleasure in sitting down to dinner in a nice looking restaurant.

Today I learned that the Sandy Springs Municipal Court is in an office park. Really.
