wonderbink: The outline of a star surrounded by tiny (illegible) writing (choose)
Went on my usual Saturday afternoon rounds and had a sudden impulse to see V For Vendetta before it vanished from movie theaters. It's an impulse I'm glad I went on. I'd read the original book many moons ago and had heard all kinds of kerfuffle about how it had been "Hollywooded" and how Alan Moore had his name removed from it completely. (Reading the closing credits without his name mentioned was a bit like looking at family photographs with the ex-husband airbrushed out.) So I went in with low expectations and was very pleasantly surprised at how well it captured the look and spirit of the original. Naturally, many things were changed, but one of the most crucial sequences is kept absolutely intact, right down to some of the lines word-for-word. There were a couple of "Hollywoody" moments in it, I won't deny that, but I let them slide and enjoyed myself.

Today I took pleasure in seeing V For Vendetta on the big screen.

Today I learned movies at noon on Saturday aren't very crowded at all.
