So far, so good. Getting up at 4:15 AM didn't kick my ass nearly as hard as I thought it was going to. I was alive, awake and perky upon my arrival at the store. I met my fellow processors (that's what they call 'em here, prolly 'cos it sounds a little better than 'shelvers') and got put to work on unpacking magazines, putting them on the rack and getting rid of the old ones. I got a couple of cups of coffee in me and life was v. happy nice. From there, I got a cart of books to put on the shelves, which was just like old times at the Book Nook. It's the kind of stuff my methodical little mind thrives on, so I was content. All in all, I think I'll do fine there--the people are cool and helpful and the work is constant without being stressful. It'll take a little adjusting to get used to having "lunch" at nine o'clock in the morning, but I'm pretty adaptable.

Went to Java Monkey on Sunday night. Ran into some old friends, had some chocolate mousse cake, and read one of my rambles. Saw something on the way there that inspired me--on the back of a MARTA bus was the 800 number for the BellSouth Yellow Pages. 1-800-GET-REAL. No, really. I thought it was hilarious. It sounded to me like one of those snarky remarks you make to put somebody in their place--"Dial 1-800-GET-REAL!" I think I may start using that.

Thinking about going to the Caribou Coffee reading if I can coax Malinda out to join me. Stay tuned.

Yeah, I worked there a little after your tenure there, I think. I was basically trained up to replace Rozana when she decided to quit. I was there all through the move to the new location, but when I got moved to the new location, they weren't doing as much business so they let go the last three people they hired. I was one of them. Damn.

But, hey, the experience landed me this job, so I can't complain too much.
