Went over to Mr. TBH's place and watched his copy of Yellow Submarine. It was apropos for reasons I won't get into. Afterwards, I went out on his balcony to look at the moon and he shot fireworks off in honor of his brother who died two years ago.

Strange night. Very strange night.

Today was weekend errands and getting my oil changed. Took care of my Catholic business at the vigil Mass, got my throat blessed (Happy Saint Blaise Day) and decided to stop by the parental house to take a bath and muck about on Second Life for a bit. Which I'm still doing in between writing this entry.

Today I took pleasure in a waffle with strawberries and whipped cream. A really good waffle with strawberries and whipped cream.

Today I learned what the original version of "One Step Beyond" sounds like.

My parents thought I'd like to see yellow submarine as a child. My GOD the nightmares it gave me. People with tall hats trying to dump large apples on my head, falling through holes in the floor.... horrible!

Godzilla movies, space monsters, not one wink of disturbed sleep.
Double headers of hockey game rioting, nary a trauma to my fwagil liddle mind.

Yellow submarine on the other hand..... psychosis.

They used to show it on TV once a year or so when I was a kid. It scared the crap out of me, too. I even went through a period of hating The Beatles because of that movie.

These days, it's one of my favorite films in the history of ever. So go figure.

I used the watch it once/year while growing up... I loved the psychedelic aspect... So terribly cool!

But then again I've always been a bit strange.

The original Madness version? (Off the album "One Step Beyond") or is there a different one?

The original I heard was that one, that has the "Hey you! Don't watch that, watch this!" long intro...

Cheers!

The Madness version is actually a cover. The original is by Prince Buster. I hadn't even realized that until last night, either.
