wonderbink: "I'm way too busy being AWESOME right now" in black letters on a red background. (awesome)
1. It's easier to meet interesting people on Wednesday night, when the arrival crowds are small enough to make eye contact, than it is on Thursday night, when things are too huge and insane to do much beyond push your way through the throng. I showed up Wednesday to say howdy to some people I knew and never crossed paths with them. I did, however, meet a couple of cute guys from the UK and coaxed them into checking out the view from the top floor of the Marriott.

2. Carl is my friend, my buddy and my pal, who will offer me bourbon and ice if I stop by the green room when he's around.

3. Invites to [livejournal.com profile] docwhoopee's party are very effective flirtation devices.

4. However, inviting people the the party who do not already have convention memberships is an exercise in futility, because they're now enforcing the badge-or-room-key rules to even be on the premises and my brother's invites don't exactly count.

5. Misha Collins is very sweet and soft-spoken and quite possibly even more good-looking in person. (Alas, I didn't get to talk to him for very long, and I missed him when he showed up at the Twins' party on Sunday night because I was in the next room having a little private time with a young man I'd met earlier.)

6. The Twins are very, very protective of me and I am grateful to have them on my side, though this does tend to inhibit people from flirting with me.

7. Showing up fifteen minutes late to check out a popular panel just means that the door will be closed and you'll have to go figure out what else to do with your day.

8. Wearing a full face mask will get you many compliments (including compliments of the "holy shit, that's kinda disturbing" variety) but it will also confuse people who know you until you point at the name on your badge.

9. The food in the con suite is not as posh as the food in the green room, but it's still tasty and it's easier to get to than trying to push one's way through the food court.

10. The parade is still fun, but can no longer be just shown up at without prior registration. (Thankfully, our group was able to finagle some parade ribbons when another group handed back the ones they didn't need.)

I may do a more detailed report later, but I wanted to at least get the highlights up.

Today I took pleasure in a mouthful of cottage cheese.

Today I learned that Criminal Records in Atlanta is in danger of closing.
