Scientology decided to launch a new ad blitz to prop up their crumbling reputation. It's a bit disconcerting to see something bearing an eerie resemblance to an antidepressant commercial ending with "Scientology.org."
Meanwhile, down in Florida, the St. Petersburg Times has put out a rather damning article about Scientology and in particular about Scientology's leader, David Miscavige. Apparently, members of Scientology have been running about frantically trying to buy up as many newspapers as possible so people won't read them. Unfortunately for Scientology, the article is available via the wonders of the Internet. Wouldn't it be a shame if that article wound up being one of the top choices for the search term "Scientology"?
I'm just sayin'.
Meanwhile, in the rest of me life, I've been trying out an amino acid supplement called 5-HTP to alleviate the depression and it seems to have eased a bit. I guess it also helped that I went to my friend Lake's birthday party last night and had a terrific time drinking Sangria, trading stories with interesting people and watching some of what YouTube had to offer on the TV screen, thanks to the wonders of Playstation. (Seriously, I love the 21st century.)
As I mentioned on my other blawg, I've rendered my initial draft of my novel into a PDF and passed it on to a select group of readers. I'll figure out what to do next after I've gotten feedback of some description.
Job interview tomorrow, so I'd best get to bed at something resembling a sensible hour.
Today I took pleasure in my last slice of birthday cake.
Today I learned that Tom Waits made an appearance on a talk show in 1977 that can be seen on YouTube. Have a look.
