Happy Flag Day!
Jun. 14th, 2007 10:49 pmYes, June 14th, on top of being my birthday, has been designated Flag Day on the American calendar. It's more of a trivia question than a holiday, but it's nice to have something I can wish back on people when they wish me a Happy Birthday.
I took the day off from work, as I am inclined to do when I am able. Stayed up late the night before, slept rather late, moofed around for a bit and finally headed down to Little Five Points to collect on an emailed coupon for a free meal on my birthday from The Vortex. It ended up taking me something like an HOUR to get down there, so by the time I was finished with lunch, all I really wanted to do was take a nap. So I went to Mom and Dad's house and did so.
Mom and Dad took me to IKEA and bought me a couple of CD towers and a table and chairs for my condo. Then they took me out to dinner to a really nice restaurant called Dolce, but I was still too full of meat and tater tots to have much of an appetite, so I just had a salad and nibbled a bit at Mom and Dad's entrees.
I'm home now and I'll be winding down and going to bed because I decided to go to work Friday instead of making it a long weekend. I'll be dragging out my birthday festivities for the weekend, though. Should be fun.
Today I took pleasure in a bacon cheeseburger from The Vortex.
Today I learned that IKEA isn't nearly as hectic and crowded on a weeknight as it is on a Saturday.
EDIT: Today I also learned: DAVID SYLVIAN IS TOURING!!!!! Starting in Europe in September, but it's being described as a world tour, so surely there will be North American dates at some point. AHHHHHHHHH! Please, please, let him play somewhere I can get to! I will walk if I have to, just get him on my freaking continent!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
