I spent the evening at the meeting for the DeKalb County Historic Preservation Commision, just so I could voice my personal objection to the McMansion that's sprouting up on the corner of Lullwater Road.

They wanted to modify the Certificate of Appropriateness. They were denied. Woot! I have no clue if my appearance and statement (such as it was) had anything to do with it--it seemed the people on the board had their own problems with what was being proposed. (Incidentally, I wasn't the only person there to voice displeasure.) But at least I know where things stand instead of having to wait for the grapevine to tell me.

So yeah. In other news, I'm lining things up to buy the condo I looked at. Have to get the earnest money together. Get the loan worked out. Stuff like that.

I spent pretty much all weekend watching MST3K. I mean, I got the usual high points--cleaned the bathroom, ran my errands and stuff. But most of the free time was spent with Joel and the Bots. I have an idea for an icon that I'll be using my screen capture voodoo on Real Soon Now. Watch this space.

Today I took pleasure in driving with the windows down, the sunroof open and The Beatles on the stereo.

Today I learned what a historic preservation meeting is like.
