Ohemgee*squee!*
Mar. 11th, 2005 07:30 pmThree Things That Make Me Happy:
1. I'm going to Las Vegas tomorrow to see Duran Duran on Sunday. *squee!*
2. The Eddie Izzard book that I won on eBay arrived in my mailbox. *squeesquee!*
3. Metallic Love by Tanith Lee, the sequel to The Silver Metal Lover, is out and I bought it with my fabulous employee discount. *squeesqueesqueeeeeee!*
On the downside, I am neck-deep in dirty laundry and am reduced to wearing the Blue Underpants Of Last Resort and the Red Pajamas Of Too-Short Pants while I wash the rest of my clothes. I'm also missing a rather nice shirt that I was hoping to wear tomorrow. Oh, well. I'll find it eventually.
So tonight I've got to do laundry and pack. And try to restrain myself from devouring my books, because I figure they'll be better suited as airplane reading material. I did get one chapter into Metallic Love though, and it's fantastic. Tanith Lee is one of my literary goddesses. I'm honestly surprised that she's as obscure as she seems to be. I'd think the gothy types would latch on to her Flat Earth novels (featuring a race of pale skinned, black haired, sunlight-averse, incredibly beautiful demons who toy with humanity and are brilliant in bed) the way they did to Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. Shame, really. But, since Don't Bite The Sun (my favorite book in the entire universe) and its sequel Drinking Sapphire Wine have made their way back into print (as one volume called Biting The Sun) perhaps the Flat Earth books might return to bookstore shelves. One can hope.
