Good news, bad news...
Jul. 10th, 2004 08:14 pmThe good news is, I get next Saturday off, so I can drive down to the beach alongside my family instead of driving down after work and getting there after dark.
The bad news is, the reason I'm getting the Saturday off is because I'm working on my usual days off. I work tomorrow and Monday and the rest of the week straight through to Saturday. I'm probably going to be a total burnout case by the time Saturday rolls around, at which point I have to drive for seven or eight hours by myself, 'cos I have to drive back up on Monday.
The good news is, and still is, I get to go to the beach. I get to go to the beach. This means an awful lot to me. For me, skipping the beach is like skipping Christmas or something. Can't bear the thought. I need--even if it's only a day's worth--to sit out on a breezy balcony and listen to David Sylvian's Gone To Earth, to walk on the sand, to dip my toes in the ocean and to maybe build a sand castle or two. It's very elemental for me.
I think I'll use that thought to keep me going through the week. I'm going to need it.
Oh, and another bit of good news. Mom baked cinnamon rolls. Yum!
